PHOTO OF THE MONTH: April 02

This photo was taken in a crawl space of a house located in Southeast, Georgia. While the house is approx. 20 years old, this defect is approx. 6 months old. The homeowner, a single woman, had a new bathroom installed 6 months before the inspection. The plumber failed to hook up the waste drain pipes under the new bathroom, which resulted in a 6 month old "swamp" under the house. If this situation had gone undetected, it would have eventually caused some rot to develop in the surrounding structural wood, due to the high moisture content in the air. It would also possibly have posed a health risk from mold development.
