Offset chimneys are not too unusual and if constructed properly are
not considered a problem. The bathroom exhaust duct however, connected into the chimney in this
photo is a problem. Building codes prohibit bathroom exhaust ducts from connecting into active chimneys
(chimneys being used by appliances such as boilers and furnaces.)
